The bus & guide meet you at the hotel in the city center of Hue or at the meeting point, we drive to the boat jetty. Get on the dragon boat in about 30 minutes to arrive at Thien Mu Pagoda, 5km from the city center; namely, Heaven Fairy Lady Pagoda, is one of the most ancient & fascinating pagodas.
09:15 am: we continue visiting Imperial Citadel; the area surrounded by brick walls, reserved for Kings and Royal Families to leave, work, and worship ad the Hue Forbidden City in the middle.
Next, we move to the Dong Ba market
At noon time, we enjoy a local lunch at the restaurant

13:30 pm: After lunch, continue to visit Minh Mang Tomb and Khai Dinh Tomb, time to explore the perfect beauty of the stunning complex. Minh Mang’s tomb is different from the rest of the imperial tombs because of its architecture, you can see a balance of nature and structures that is unmatched among tombs in Hue.
Khai Dinh King was not popular amongst Vietnamese people due to his close collaboration with the government of France (he was widely seen as a puppet of the French).

16:00 pm: Visit and take photos at the Conical hat and incense-making village.

The bus transfer you back to the city center.

DMZ tour from Hue – Day Trip – Private Tour (Trip code 1305b)

Vietnam’s Demilitarized Zone, or DMZ, is the area around the former border between North and South Vietnam. Historically, it was a narrow band of terrain extending from the Laos border to the coast, five km on either side of the Ben Hai River, roughly on the 17th parallel north latitude.
The area saw heavy fighting in the war, and ruins of old American military bases still exist. Even if you’re not interested in history, the area has some spectacular mountain scenery and rugged jungles.

7.15 – 7.30 am: our guide & driver pick you up at the hotel in Hue city center for the DMZ trip.

After 1.5 hours of driving for 55 km, we visit La Vang Holyland (in Vietnamese: Thánh Địa La Vang), it is a holy place and an important place of pilgrimage for Vietnamese Catholics, a shrine located in Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province. We stop to visit Rock Pile Hill on the way, also known as The Rockpile Base or Elliot Combat Base, an important US Base located in the rocky mountains.

Stop to visit the Dakrong suspension bridge, a central point of the Dakrong relic – a scenic spot located on National Highway 9 at km50, that was an important part of the Ho Chi Minh trail network as well as the DMZ Vietnam
Continue the trip to visit Khe Sanh Combat Base,  where the United States Marine Corps outpost south of the Vietnamese Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) used during the Vietnam War, this large Marine base camp was attacked by massive forces of the North Vietnamese Army in early 1968.

Have lunch at a local restaurant in Dong Ha town.

At 14.00: We continue to visit Hien Luong Bridge and the Ben Hai River.  Those two “historical witnesses” carrying the pain of dividing the country into the North and South

After one hour more, at 15.00 we arrive Vinh Moc tunnels (Địa đạo Vĩnh Mốc ), the largest historical relic in Quang Tri. It is famous because the people of Vinh Linh lived here for a long time during the war. This area beneath the earth protected people to survive the war and built an underground community. The complex network of caves is very well planned and well managed at that time for the survival.

At about 16.30: we back to the car for a transfer back to your hotel in Hue city center.

Paradise Cave (Hang Thien Duong) discovered in 2005, has a length of 31 km. With naturally primitive features, Thien Duong Cave looks like a landscape painting, making it very attractive to visitors. According to spelunkers, the deeper one journeys into the cave, the more one feels the wells of heavenly clarity all around. There are a series of white crystal stalactites resembling glass pillars and many other spectacular formations.

Phong Nha Cave (river cave) is not only a natural legacy of the world or a wonder of the country Vietnam, but also a relic system of the historic street Ho Chi Minh which collaborates with Xuan Son Ferry in order to create a route supporting for the battleground of South Vietnam during US War. Today, this place has become the first section of Ho Chi Minh trails. Therefore, coming to Phong Nha means you are visiting these legendary trails.

 

6.00 am: Early morning, our driver & guide pick you up from the hotel in Hue city center. We drive 4 hours for 220 km

On the way, we stop at La Vang Holy Land to visit the famous pilgrimage site of the Catholics in Vietnam. Take a short break and take some photos after 1.5 hours of driving on Highway No1

Then we continue the direction, we pass by Doc Mieu Fire Base, Hien Luong Bridge, Ben Hai River, and Vinh Moc Tunnels, our tour guide will tell you about Vietnam War history.
Please note that our trip will not stop for a visit, we just pass by the above places.

Around 11:30 pm: We arrive at the Phong Nha National Park area and have lunch at a local restaurant with Vietnamese dishes.

After lunch, we get on a boat at 13.00 to go along the Son River through Phong Nha Cave, enjoy your time admiring fabulous views along the river banks.

After a time on the boat, the engine is stopped and you are required to keep silent through cavern after garishly illuminated cavern. On the return leg, there’s the option to climb (via 330 steps) up to the mountainside Tien Son Cave with the remains of 9th-century Cham altars.

It is approximately 75 km from Dong Hoi-a 1h20 minute drive). -OR- 8:15: Our driver will pick you up at your hotel in Phong Nha village then transfer you to Paradise Cave – the longest dry cave in Asia (located in Phong Nha – Ke bang National Park’s core zone).
You will then be taken by golf cart (1.6km) from the main gate, through the jungle, to where you will then climb to the mouth of the cave; a climb that boasts spectacular views of the mountainous region around the cave.
With naturally primitive features, Paradise Cave looks like a landscape painting; making it a natural wonder that many have enjoyed since its opening in 2010. According to spelunkers (cave explorers), the deeper one journeys into the cave, the more one feels the wells of heavenly clarity all around. The cave height can reach to 72 m and up to 150 m wide. There are a series of white crystal stalactites (limestone deposits) resembling natural pillars and many other spectacular formations.
12:30: Lunch at Dark cave restaurant. Here you will enjoy a traditional Vietnamese dish. Vegetarian option available. Please contact us in advance if you have any dietary restrictions and we will do our best to accommodate you.
13:30: Visit Dark cave (located in Phong Nha – Ke Bang National Park). Participate in the many adventure activities: Activities: Muddy bath, ziplining, swimming, kayaking, adventure course, caving etc.
Dark cave is and adventurous and action-packed experience. Visiting this cave includes zip lining over a turquoise river, swimming into the mouth of the cave (life jackets included), walking through the dark with only the head torch on your mining helmet to illuminate the way, having a mud fight in the buoyant mud baths deep in the cave, washing clean with a swim in the lake inside the cave, then finally kayaking back across the river.

13:30: Depart for Phong Nha Cave. You will then take a 25 minute ride to the cave via traditional dragon boat. This cave is called a water cave as it boasts an underground river. After going into the cave by boat, you will explore 300 meters into the cave on foot. Then, you will be taken back by boat. This cave is famous for its spectacular rock formations. It has been given names such as the “Lion”, the “Fairy Caves”, the “Royal Court”, and the “Buddha”.
Phong Nha cave is not only a natural legacy of the world, nor a wonder of the country of Vietnam. It also stands as a relic system of the historic Ho Chi Minh street which, during the US war, collaborated with Xuan Son Ferry in order to create a route supporting the battleground of South Vietnam. It once served as a hospital, with weapons installed at the entrance. We are pleased to accompany with you in the trip exploring the peaceful village of Thanh Toan throughout a number of activities such as biking, farming, fishing and cooking class. Via this trip, you will surely have a better opportunity to learn about the local life, culture and people of Vietnam in general and of Hue in particular.
PROGRAM (around 5 – 6 hours)
8.30 am: Start biking to Thanh Toan Village where the famous “Thanh Toan Tiled Roof Bridge” is located. On the way, you can catch the images of the bustling morning local market, the green rice fields, majestic family temples as well as the daily life of local people crossing the zigzag path of the village.
9.15: Arrive at our Thanh Toan Eco Home – take a short rest and enjoy our welcome drink. Walk / Bike along the canal and stop by the local market with happy smiley farmers , cross Thanh Toan Tile roof Bridge – a truly unique ancient bridge in Vietnam, and visit Thanh Toan Museum with a wide variety of agricultural tools exhibited to explain the details of Vietnamese life and culture.
Option 1 : Row the boat with the villager on Nhu Y River to enjoy spectacular sceneries and explore how they catch the fish by using some old tools such as fishing trap, casting net, etc. After observing, you can join hand with them to catch your own fish.
Get back to our “Eco Home” where you can learn how farmer grow the vegetables such as morning glory, Malabar spinach, gourd, fiber melon, so on and experience some farming activities together with them.
Option 2: (follow farmer’s crop): Take a walk to the rice field near “Eco home” where farmers are working on their own land. They will be eager to share with you about the rice cultivation and show you how to do a few steps out of the whole process if you want to try. After that, you will have more fun to catch fish with some simple tools such as fishing basket, net, bamboo traps, etc. Take all fish that you have just caught back to our place to cook and enjoy your lunch. That must be your most delicious meal of your trip in Vietnam.
11h15: Join cooking class to learn the traditional ways of preparing and cooking Hue specialties (3 dishes). After the lesson, enjoy what you have just cooked and some other dishes
