Sunday Bac Ha market – Sapa trekking –  3 days 2 nights (#409)

Bac Ha town is 76 km far away from Lao Cai, known as the little Sapa, famous for a Sunday market & home of many ethnic group alike Flower H’mong, Tay, Dzao, Tu Zi, Nung, Phu La, La Chi, Lo Lo, Xa Fang, Nung, Phu La. A remote mountainous areas that we do not expect much on tourist services provided, but is worth for those love trekking, see a beautiful landscape full of hills and rice terraces, get in touch with local people to discover the daily life, what a peaceful place, let’s come and see.

You have chance to see the Royal Palace of H’Mong people, look an original architecture in Asia-European style, very old thing remains from French colonization. Hoang A Tuong Palace was owned by father and son, father Hoang Yen Chao – a Tay ethnic people & son Hoang A Tuong – King of H’Mong people in this region who ruled and controlled the business activities of this area. Also visit Ban Pho village – 2 km from Bac Ha town. Great moment to visit in the spring time for plum trees provider for TET in Vietnam.

Night 1 (Saturday): Hanoi- Overnight train to Lao cai station (no meals)

Tonight you will take an overnight train for Hanoi to Lao Cai, A/C soft sleeper 4-berth sharing cabin on a tourist train. Schedule time that connects with train SP1 (21.30/05.25+1) or SP3 (22.00/06.20+1)
*Note: please get a reliable taxi from your hotel to Hanoi train station (we recommend to use Mai Linh or Group taxi, ask the driver to turn on the meter, costs abt 3-5$/transfer), about 3km from Hanoi old quarter areas to train station “Tran Quy Cap Station B” for train to Lao cai.

Day 1 (Sunday): Lao Cai – Bac Ha Sunday market – H’Mong Royal Palace –  Sapa (B,L)

After meeting a guide at the Lao Cai railway station we have breakfast there and go to the Bac Ha market for two hours by a van (AC). Bac Ha, the largest market in the region, a place where many ethnic groups gather to buy and sell, eat and drink together: different textiles, saddles for horses, bags, cushions, figurines and other handcrafted items you might love for souvenir. Continue the trip to Royal Palace Hoang A Tuong. Lunch at local restaurant. Trek to Ban Pho village of the Flower H’Mong people, to see their house, the daily life, understand little more about their lifestyle and traditional customs. Especially, we can try homemade wine from corn. Drive back to Sapa, 110 km in about 3 hours ride. En-route, stop to see Trung Do village of the Tay people (if time permits). Check-in and overnight in Sapa.

Day 2 (Monday): Sapa – Lao Chai/Ta Van – Love waterfall – Tram Ton –  night train back Hanoi (B, L)

After breakfast, hike down to Lao Chai village to visit the Tay and Day tribes. Continue along the bottom of the Sapa valley to get to Ta Van village, which is supposed to be the most beautiful one in the area. Today you will spend abt 4 hours hiking. It depends on you if you want to hike more or less. At least you can see one village – it is a must (!), once in this region! Return to Sapa by car for having lunch at local restaurant.
In the afternoon, drive up hill to see the beautiful Love Waterfall and then onto Tram Ton, the highest mountain pass in Vietnam at 1,800 m above sea level for enjoying the magnificence of Hoang Lien Son Mountain Range as well as over viewing spectacular landscapes of the whole area, stretching endlessly.
Then transfer back to Lao Cai station for the night train back to Hanoi by soft sleeper, 4-berth sharing compartment on tourist train. Schedule time that connects with SP2 (20.35/04.45+1) or SP4 (21.10/05.22+1)
Overnight train trip

Day 3 (Tuesday): Hanoi Arrival, take taxi to your hotel!

You will arrive early in the morning then take meter taxi to your hotel in Hanoi or transfer to airport. Kindly tell driver to turn the meter on and we suggest you to use Mai Linh taxi as it is reliable enough!
Early check in hotel & breakfast are not included. Trip ends here.

 * Note: Sapa accommodation can be at Ta Van Ecologic Homestay for those prefer getting experience on dinner and homestay at local house in Ta Van village/Sapa. Private room for 2 persons, hot water, breakfast inclusive.
