Sapa Mu Cang Chai Tour – 5 days 4 nights (#303b)

Mu Cang Chai, a rural district of Yen Bai province, 280km far away from Hanoi and 180km from Sapa town, Lao Cai. This 5 days tour package from Sapa to Mu Cang Chai to explore the untouched region in Northwest of Vietnam, deeping in the shiny yellow from sun, relax in such a beautiful scenery. Arriving Mu Cang Chai, you will be suprised either by the spectacular base of mountain pass, the pretty flowers bloom season or the undiscovered rice terraces that are classified as National Heritage from 2007 inclusive La Pan Tan, Che Cu Nha and Dze Xu Phinh.

Day 1: Hanoi – Sapa – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van homestay (L, D)

06.30: Shuttle bus picks up at your hotel and drive to Sapa
13.00: Arrive in Sapa, your tour guide and driver pick up and transfer for lunch
After lunch, drive to Lao Chai village for stunning landscapes over the valley along the way. The good walk start from the main road down through the rice fields, passing by Lao Chai Bridge then keep hiking through lush rice-terraces towards Lao Chai village to experience daily life and customs of Red Dao people in Ta Van village. You would love to have a quick visit with local families and learn about their traditional fiber processing.
Arrive in Ta Van village of Dzay ethnic minority, we come and relax in a family, dinner and stay in the friendly homestay.
Note: the trek depends much on your health, please freely discuss with your local tour guide for smooth experience, either by hiking towards or by car.

Day 2: Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai – Sapa – Ham Rong Mountain – Sapa (B, L)

In the morning: after breakfast with your host, we leave Ta Van village for a great hike through bamboo forests to Giang Ta Chai waterfall, including a short break to enjoy stunning views surrounding. This trekking route offers some moderate challenges as you with several up and down trails from one valley to other. As we see the densely lush vegetation after a stunning high pass nearby a waterfall, we break for a picnic lunch.

Day 3: Sapa – Than Uyen – Mu Cang Chai (B, L, D)

Check out then leave Sapa for Mu Cang Chai, where located beautiful terraced fields that was a lovely symbol of the region. From Sapa town, our car will take us across Tram Ton Pass where you can enjoy fresh and cool air and nice landscapes. Visit villages of Muong Khoa, Muong Kim and Na Kim. Lunch en route. Arrive in Mu Cang Chai, another rice terrace paradise. You may have time to get some stops on the way for taking pictures. Check in a stilt-house homestay of the Thai people nearby Mu Cang Chai town.
Dinner and overnight there.

Day 4: Mu Cang Chai Trek – Nghia Lo (B, L, D)

Today, we spend most of the day for a long scenic trek on small paths and back roads from Che Cu Nha to La Pan Tan as this is the best part of the region for you to admire the amazing rice terraced paddy. Late in the afternoon, we drive to Nghia Lo town for a night at a local hotel.

Day 5: Nghia Lo – Duong Lam ancient village – Hanoi (B, L)

This morning, we will check out of your hotel for the drive back to Hanoi. Lunch is at a local restaurant on the way.
On the way, visit Duong Lam village (about 50km), a purely agricultural village of the Northern Red River delta where still preserved many hundred-year-old houses. Then drive to visit Mia pagoda (another hamlet in Duong Lam village), built in 15th century and admire 287 statues of all sizes, among with are famous sculpture such as the statue of Buddha in the Himalayas and the statues of the Eight Vajra Deities.
Arrive in Hanoi. End of trip.

*Best time to visit Mu Cang Chai:
– May & Jun: the people fill up the water on the field, the surface of terraced fields shines like a mirror reflecting the contrast of the reddish brown of soil, the deep blue of the sky and the green of surrounding forests.
– September & October: (rice harvest’ season) to see the prosperity of all over the area as rice in all terraced fields is ripe, giving the gold colour, the mountainous landscape astonishingly beautiful.
